Elegant tabletop inkwell made in France in the early 20th century, following the aesthetic of Belle Époque designs.
The piece is structured around an iconographic motif with a long tradition in European decorative arts: the Hand of Glory, or anatomical hand, which emerges from a cuff with carved ruffles, holding a chalice that serves as a container for the ink. The base from which the whole emerges is a fine plate with low legs and sgraffito decorations on the rim.
It features precise and balanced metalwork. The hinged lid allows it to be closed to store the ink, while maintaining the object's functionality.
