Designed in 1982 by German designer Ingo Maurer, the Bibibibi table lamp is an iconic creation of 1980s postmodern design that integrates ready-made industrial elements with refined craft. The structure rests on a circular white porcelain base that serves as the foundation for the entire composition. Rising from the porcelain plate, two slender legs molded in bright red plastic form the stem, supporting an adjustable semi-spherical shade of matte black lacquered sheet metal. A thin metal wire extends vertically from the crown of the shade, finished with genuine natural feathers that sway with subtle air movements. The lamp directs light downward from beneath the metal shade onto the white porcelain plate, dispersing a soft ambient glow across the surroundings while allowing the plate to serve as a vide-poche for small personal objects. Its zoomorphic profile bridges functional lighting and sculpture, breaking away from rigid functionalist conventions through humor and figurative form. The adjustable shade allows directional light adjustment on desks, consoles, side tables, or accent surfaces in residential and gallery interiors. This original 1980s piece is signed by Ingo Maurer on the porcelain base.
