Product description
This is a rare vintage floor lamp by the Dutch manufacturer Herda, executed in a distinctive Memphis style. The design stands out with its graphic silhouette and bold use of color, typical of the postmodern aesthetic of the 1980s.
The lamp is made of metal and glass. The round base and the saucer-shaped shade are lacquered in a deep burgundy color, creating a strong contrast with the slender, black metal frame. Centrally under the shade is a glass cone that refracts and diffuses the light, resulting in atmospheric, indirect downward lighting. This model is a clear example of Dutch Design from that period.
The overall condition of the lamp is very good. The original lacquer and structure have been preserved, and the lamp is fully functional, including the original floor dimmer with which the light intensity can be adjusted. The glass cone is in absolutely perfect condition. There are some minimal dents on the base, consistent with the lamp's age.
As an uplighter, this lamp creates a pleasant, diffused light that can make a room appear larger. It is a distinctive piece that fits well into an eclectic or postmodern interior, where it can serve as a sculptural and functional accent.
