For sale is an exceptionally beautiful and rarely preserved 6-piece set of English mocha spoons made of 800 silver with elaborately crafted floral enamel, manufactured by Henry Clifford Davis (HCD), England. The six spoons are each decorated on the back of the bowls with a different floral motif. The finely crafted blossoms show various flowers in beautiful, vibrant colors. This means that each individual spoon is uniquely designed and at the same time part of a harmoniously assembled set. The combination of shiny silver and the colorful enamel work makes these small spoons very special pieces of English silver art. An exceptional feature is the completely preserved history of the set: The spoons come from family ownership and were given as a wedding gift in 1959. They were never used and subsequently stored in the accompanying presentation case in a cupboard. Even the original wedding congratulatory card from November 11, 1959, was left in the case at the time and is still there today. It naturally belongs to the set and documents its origin in a particularly beautiful way. The high-quality original presentation case is covered on the outside with black leather and features a gold-colored decorative embossing. Inside, it is lined with dark velvet and light satin and bears the original inscription: “MADE IN ENGLAND EXPRESSLY FOR Proud’s” A brief history of Proud’s: Proud’s The Jewellers was founded in 1903 by William James Proud on Pitt Street in Sydney and developed into a traditional Australian jewelry house. In addition to jewelry and watches, Proud’s also carried high-quality silver and gift items. The original inscription in the case documents that this set was specially made in England for Proud’s. The case only shows age-related traces from decades of storage.
