From the press: "H.B. seeks above all the atmosphere of his subjects, albeit keeping far from ordinary themes, but compositions with figures from everyday life are his preference" and "H.B.'s paintings continue the atmosphere of the delightful intimacy of the life of the working-class man." Prize Jozef Muls, prize Guillaume Campo, first prize Noorderkempen and first prize of La Palette Martegale in France. Directed the artist cafe Den Draak in Ghent (1956-1959), was behind the organization of a large number of artistic events in Flanders and supported a whole series of debutant or already established artists.
