The table comes from an architect-designed house built in 1961, which was filled with design classics and high-quality mid-century furniture. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain more precise information about the table, as it is an estate sale. We cannot say for certain whether it is an early design or a prototype from the Andreas Tuck workshop. However, we can guarantee that the table is at least 50 years old. Therefore, we do not suspect it is a copy, as such copying was not yet common practice for Danish furniture at that time, unlike today.
DESIGNER:
Hans J. Wegner, Denmark
MATERIAL:
Teak veneer, oiled; solid blockboard; sanded and polished aluminum
COLOR:
Teak (dark brown with a beautiful reddish tint and natural color variations)
Note:
The photos are overexposed to show the pristine condition in detail. This makes reddish tones more pronounced and colors generally appear lighter. The shadowed areas, or those not directly illuminated by the camera light, best represent the true colors. Any glare or grayish or milky areas in the photos are due to lighting conditions (reflections). The surfaces have a satin to semi-gloss finish.
DIMENSIONS:
Approx. Width: 160 cm; Depth: 95 cm; Height: 75 cm; Tabletop thickness: 4 cm
CONDITION:
Simply superb! The table was lovingly restored by a professional restorer using traditional and natural materials. After being completely disassembled, the teak wood underwent a meticulous surface treatment. A multi-stage core cleaning process, followed by careful sanding, removed the old oil layer, repaired damaged areas, and restored the original teak wood base. The subsequent multi-layered oil finish, using various oils developed and carefully blended by us, not only increases durability but also creates a harmonious color and a very pleasant, warm feel.
We removed scratches and dents from the metal parts, then sanded them smooth and polished them to a high shine, and fitted new screws.
Result: When you see it, you'd think it was brand new!
