Floris Meydam (1919–2011) was one of the most important Dutch glass artists of the 20th century.
He began at the age of 16 as an assistant at Glasfabriek Leerdam and rose through the ranks to become chief designer there.
For decades, he defined the face of Dutch glass with his sleek, colorful tableware and unique glass art (Unica).
In addition, he designed successful ceramics and contributed to the iconic design of the Grolsch swing-top bottle.
His innovative designs won international awards and can be admired today in top museums such as the MoMA in New York.
