Product description
A work of art in its own right: Magnificent large quadrangular vase in enameled ceramic, entirely animated by a wooded landscape unfolding on its four sides. Its slender silhouette with rounded corners frames a particularly detailed panoramic composition: large trees, streams, meadows, rustic fences, flowers, and small figures punctuate a luminous horizon. Deep greens, turquoise blues, browns, and cream shades are worked under a brilliant glaze, with a free and expressive pictorial touch. An attribution to a Montigny-sur-Loing workshop has been proposed by an auctioneer. The naturalistic treatment of the landscape evokes the Barbizon school and certain French productions from the late 19th or early 20th century. In the absence of a legible signature or manufacturer's mark, this attribution remains to be confirmed. Height: 36 cm Width: 17 cm Depth: 12 cm Weight: 2.2 kg Good general condition considering its age. Wear to the gilded rim, small chips and rubbing around the opening, as well as traces of use under the base. Some enamel dots and irregularities are also visible. With its generous format and enveloping decor, this vase will naturally find its place on a console, a sideboard, or in a collector's interior.
