Bucchero Vase, Gio Ponti and Carlo Alberto Rossi, 1940s
Rare black bucchero ceramic vase, designed by Gio Ponti in collaboration with Carlo Alberto Rossi in the 1940s. The piece stands out for its sculptural and dynamic line, with a pronounced arched handle and a smooth body with sinuous surfaces, typical of Ponti's formal research of the time.
Bucchero, a material reminiscent of Etruscan tradition, is reinterpreted in a modern key with a glossy and compact finish that enhances the pure geometry and the interplay of solids and voids. The object represents a perfect synthesis of craftsmanship and industrial design, combining the functionality of a vase with the aesthetic refinement of a domestic sculpture.
