A sumptuous Louis XV style daybed, entirely gilded, freshly reupholstered in a magnificent royal blue and silver damask fabric. This theatrical piece embodies the splendor of the Rococo style and makes a true decorative focal point.
Description
This asymmetrical daybed features the characteristic silhouette of Louis XV "dormeuses" (sleeping chairs) with its curved back extending into a raised armrest. The fully carved and gilded structure displays a rich Rococo decorative vocabulary composed of shells, scrolls, foliage, and finely chiseled volutes.
The back consists of two oval medallions framed by carved scrolls, while the asymmetrical armrest terminates in an ornamented volute. The undulating apron is carved with floral and Rococo motifs. The cabriole legs feature carved foliage and end in characteristic curled sabots.
