Beautiful, unique floor lamp by Angelo Gaetano Sciolari for AV Mazzega. In very fine condition. Chrome shines beautifully. 4 glass “spheres” in smoked/colored Murano glass. As a result, this floor lamp emits a very beautiful warm light.
The famous designer Angelo Gaetano Sciolari, born in 1927, graduated in architecture but wanted to become a film director. However, the sudden death of his father at the age of 22 led him to take over the family business, Sciolari Lighting. Thanks to his new vision, he soon led the family business to great success. Following the expansion, international awards for lighting and design followed, and Sciolari Lighting became the first exclusive Italian lamp distributor to the US. In the 1950s, Gaetano began designing lamps for other well-known lighting manufacturers such as the Italian Stilnovo and the Belgian SA Boulanger. But it was in the 1970s that, by combining various materials (brass, metal, chrome, …), he designed some of his most famous chandeliers. AV Mazzega is a renowned Italian glass factory from Murano, founded in 1946 by Angelo Vittorio Mazzega. The company is known for its handmade Murano glass lighting. In the 1960s and 1970s, AV Mazzega collaborated with prominent designers such as Carlo Nason and Aldo Nason, resulting in iconic designs that are still appreciated today.
