Product description
Elegant French pedestal tazza / compote in deep cobalt blue porcelain, dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900. The wide shallow bowl is mounted with gilt-metal trim around the rim and pedestal base, and features an ornate openwork gilt floral medallion at the centre. The underside bears a yellow enamel mark in relief with a central B between interlaced Ls, in the manner of historic Sèvres marks. This is best described as a Sèvres-style / pseudo-Sèvres mark, rather than a confirmed attribution to the Manufacture de Sèvres. The construction, cobalt porcelain and gilt-metal fittings are consistent with French decorative production of the late 19th century. Good antique condition with minor surface wear and age-related traces. Natural wear and oxidation to the gilt-metal mounts. Please refer to the detailed photographs. Dimensions: Ø 28 cm × H 18 cm Weight: 1.55 kg Period: circa 1880–1900 Origin: France Materials: Porcelain, gilt metal Style: Louis XVI / Sèvres Style Colour: Cobalt blue and gold
