A Plass pendant lamp, designed by Luca Nichetto for the Italian brand Foscarini. This lighting design combines the traditional aesthetic of Murano glass with a modern, industrial material.
The lampshade is made of polycarbonate using a rotational molding process, resulting in a surface with subtle irregularities reminiscent of handmade glass. The shade has a diameter of 34 cm and a height of 50 cm. The brown, translucent color and ribbed texture create a unique play of light and shadow. The lamp is suspended from a chrome-plated metal ceiling rose.
This piece is in excellent condition. The design of the Plass, a contraction of 'plastic' and 'glass', is a good example of Foscarini's research into materials and expressive forms. The lamp emits a warm and diffused light, while the light source itself remains partly visible through the material.
This pendant lamp is suitable as a solitary object above a dining table or in a hallway, but can also be hung in a cluster for a greater visual effect. The design fits well within both modern and eclectic interior styles.
