For sale: Iittala Putki Table Lamp Grey
Barely used. Design: Matti Klenell, new price: € 650.
The Putki table lamp by Iittala was designed in 2018 by Matti Klenell for the National Museum of Sweden in Stockholm. While sketching the lamps, Klenell was thinking of the unofficial world glassblowing championships held every year at the Iittala glass factory, where one of the challenges is to blow the largest possible cylinder.
In collaboration with Iittala's master glassblowers, Klenell subsequently created a series of tall glass fixtures and named them Putki, Finnish for "tube," due to their tubular shape. For the Iittala lighting collection, the lamp was scaled down to a smaller size that is also mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. Details:
