Before the electric blender, there was the food mill. Every Sunday, in French kitchens, it transformed cooked vegetables into smooth purees, tomatoes into coulis, apples into compote. A simple gesture, repeated millions of times, in millions of homes. This utensil is one of the most representative objects of 20th-century French cuisine. This food mill is branded Moulinette, an independent French brand distinct from Moulinex, which makes it a rarer piece on the vintage market. The "Made in France" mention is stamped on the cast aluminum body. The conical bowl rests on a wire tripod. The crank handle has a turned wooden knob. The star-perforated disc and the hexagonally perforated grid are in place and functional. Bowl diameter approximately 20 cm. 1950s-1960s. Today, this object naturally finds its place in a characterful kitchen, on a raw wood shelf or hung on a stone wall. It evokes farmhouse kitchens, morning markets, the smells of simmering soup.
