This artwork is gouache on laid paper by Bernd Berner captures the artist's distinctive balance between geometric clarity and painterly freedom. In this composition, a bold green form rises from the center, surrounded by luminous splashes and translucent layers of gouache that create depth and energy.
Part of a series in which Berner explored recurring forms, sometimes rectangular, sometimes circular, each work unfolds as a unique dialogue of color and form. Considered one of the leading representatives of postwar abstract art in Germany, Berner began developing his signature "flat spaces" in the 1950s: layered, meditative color fields that balance clarity and atmosphere.
