A ceramic ashtray by Strehla, manufactured in the former GDR. This piece is a representative example of the West German and East German ceramic style from the mid-20th century, known as 'Fat Lava'. The object has a square shape and is executed in a characteristic palette of deep red and dark brown, with a textured, speckled white-grey glaze on the inside. The exterior shows the thick, lava-like glaze structure typical of this period and style. There is a mini chip on the bottom, but it is not visible when placed on a table. Otherwise in perfect condition.
