This rattan armchair was purchased by my grandfather in Indonesia in the 1940s/50s. It was later inherited by my father. It is therefore original Indonesian rattan.
It is in very good condition considering its age.
It is reminiscent of the famous 'Belse Acht', but is of higher quality than regular European productions (such as those from Rohé Noordwolde) in terms of material and construction.
It is constructed entirely from thick, solid quality rattan. The slats are mounted on the back with handmade, crossed X-windings. Made without metal nails or staples; the connections remain completely robust and stable after 70 years.
Patina: Natural, deep honey-colored patina acquired through age.
