Evarsky Blom BKR painting ‘Woman take off your mask’ 1970s - acrylic on wood
This beautiful painting, created in 1972/1973 by the Tilburg painter Evarsky Blom, is titled ‘Woman take off your mask’. Using subtle pastel tones, Evarsky creates an intriguing, dreamy figurative work. Through the placement of colors and the breaking of lines, Evarsky manages to evoke a captivating sense of wistfulness and melancholy in this painting.
The painting depicts a naked woman and a floating angel. For the observant viewer, a small boat can also be seen near the woman's head, suggesting that the pink section is meant to represent a coastline.
This painting is a unique piece from Evarsky's oeuvre, as he primarily created abstract paintings and (virtually) no other figurative works by his hand are known.
Evarsky Blom was a well-known BKR painter. The Visual Artists Scheme was a Dutch scheme, between 1949 and 1987, under which the artist received an income from the government in exchange for art.
The painting has a few very small woodworm holes, but is otherwise in excellent condition.
