Spectacular circular convex "witch mirror" with a gilt bronze frame. Of French origin, made around 1950. The frame features a diagonal cross structure, with each arm adorned with floral motifs. Between the arms is an ornamental grid with a diamond pattern.
Convex mirrors were known as "witch mirrors" because they were believed to possess magical powers, such as visually confusing witches if they entered the home.
