Product description
A rare, perfectly matched pair of lamps made from original ceramic vases by Walter Brecht – a striking example of the formal and color aesthetics of West German Pottery from the 1970s.
The vases feature a distinctive, almost architectural silhouette with a side handle and a clearly defined shoulder. The characteristic glaze transitions from a deep midnight blue at the top to a vibrant, textured red in the body – a typical, high-quality color gradient of the period.
Both vases have been carefully and tastefully converted into table lamps and paired with custom-made lampshades.
Lampshades:
The shades are covered with a high-quality, deep blue fabric featuring an elegant crane motif. The vibrant red trim provides a deliberate contrast and echoes the colors of the vases – a harmonious, graphically striking overall effect with a Japanese-inspired feel.
Dimensions:
Large lamp: approx. 56 cm high
Small lamp: approx. 50 cm high
Vases: approx. 14 cm wide, 7 cm deep
Lampshades: approx. 25 cm diameter each
Technical details:
Both lamps are conventionally wired and ready for immediate use.
The modification was carried out carefully, without damaging the ceramic.
An exceptional and rare set – ideal as a pair on a sideboard or console, but also effective individually.
