Product description
This is a very distinctive and characteristic table lamp by the German manufacturer Doria Leuchten, dating from the 1970s. The design combines an organically shaped ceramic base with a spherical glass shade, a characteristic style from that period. The lamp stands out for its sculptural silhouette and the contrast between the rough texture of the base and the smooth, diffuse light of the shade. The base of the lamp is made of earthenware with a dark brown, heavily textured glaze layer reminiscent of tree bark or rough stone. This rests on a crescent-shaped base that elegantly embraces the white opal glass sphere. When the lamp is lit, the glass shade emits a warm and atmospheric light, further accentuating the texture of the ceramic base. This piece is a good example of mid-century West German ceramic design. This Doria Leuchten table lamp is an attractive addition to a sideboard, side table or bookshelf. The design seamlessly fits into interiors with Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist or eclectic influences and functions as both a light source and a decorative object.
