The Ahrend Revolt chair, designed by Friso Kramer in 1953, is an absolute icon of Dutch Design. This specific example from 1964 demonstrates the timeless appeal of the minimalist design, characterized by its clean lines and innovative use of materials.
The chair is crafted with a frame of folded sheet steel, which was a revolutionary technique at the time that ensured a lightweight yet extremely sturdy construction. The seat and backrest are finished in black synthetic material, creating a beautiful contrast with the grey metal frame. The original Ahrend Cirkel label with the date February 6, 1964, is still present on the underside, confirming the authenticity and historical value of this piece. The second sticker is from the RIB (Rijks Inkoop Bureau), which at the time organized central purchasing for primary and secondary schools.
