The first steps in space travel fascinated not only scientists and cosmonauts. They also unleashed a true revolution in the world of art and design. Designers drew inspiration from the unknown and created futuristic forms in architecture, fashion, and interior design. This UFO pendant lamp by the Dutch manufacturer Dijkstra is a beautiful example of this.
The saucer-shaped shade immediately evokes the image of flying saucers from science fiction books and films. The amber-colored plexiglass allows the internal mechanism to remain visible, which, with its metallic forms and warm light, is reminiscent of a spaceship's propulsion system.
For about sixty years, this lamp hung above the same dining table, safely protected against the ravages of time. After a thorough cleaning, a beautiful vintage car emerged from under the dust. Apart from a slight scratch on top of the shade, the lamp is in exceptionally beautiful condition – as if it has barely aged.
A special piece of Dutch design history, ready for a new home. You rarely come across this lamp in this version and in such exceptionally beautiful condition. Hopefully, it will find a place where it will be admired and used for many years to come.
