Product description
A Danish cabinet from the 1960s, veneered in teak — an example of Scandinavian design where simplicity of form meets considered functionality. The compact body rests on slender dark legs, creating the era's characteristic contrast between warm wood tones and a graphic base accent.
The construction relies on furniture board covered with teak veneer, combining stability with visual lightness. Handle-free fronts create an uninterrupted surface that emphasises the minimalist character of the piece. Inside, adjustable shelves allow the storage space to be configured according to individual needs. The solid wood legs, painted black, lift the cabinet off the floor and lend it an airy quality.
The 1960s marked the peak of Danish furniture's international reputation. Workshops across the country produced pieces that united craft quality with the democratic design ideal — objects that were beautiful yet accessible. Teak, imported on a large scale during this period, became the defining material of the era: durable, moisture-resistant, and distinguished by its warm colouring. Cabinets of this type were designed for evolving interiors, where heavy traditional furniture gave way to lighter, more adaptable forms.
The cabinet serves well in a living room as a media unit or document storage, with adjustable shelves accommodating albums, boxes, or audio equipment. Its compact dimensions also suit a hallway or bedroom setting.
The piece is in good condition. There are minor scratches and small chips on the surface, as well as filled minor losses — natural traces of use consistent with the piece's age. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
