Magnificent set of oil and vinegar cruets in silver-plated metal and Bohemian crystal. The silver-plated metal stand, decorated with rope, rests on four semicircular legs. It features a fluted handle with a scroll finial. The set includes two raspberry-colored Bohemian crystal bottles, each engraved with grape clusters and vine leaves. Each bottle has a handle and a faceted stopper. The set is completed with two salt and pepper shakers in the same crystal, each with a silver-plated lid and spoon.
Bohemian crystal originated in the 13th century in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, which today correspond to the Czech Republic and Poland, although its true recognition began in the 16th century. It is one of the most highly valued crystals in the world for its transparency and the meticulous engravings that are often incorporated into the pieces, whether intaglio or relief. Used in tableware and lamps of all kinds, it offers a special brilliance achieved through the use of lead in its production.
