Rare and exceptional decorative plate or square ceramic dish (26 cm), attributed to Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec and dating from the immediate post-war modernist period (circa 1950). A collector's item and an absolute rarity: This particular production from Abbaye N.D. du Bec is listed and documented by the recognized expert and collector Annie Beurrier. To attest to its uniqueness on the market: the only other known model belonging to the same family and by the same hand is precisely the one referenced by the specialized gallery on 1stDibs (offered at €1,680 for a rectangular format of 30 cm. See last photo) The composition is structured around a rigorous abstract and geometric decor: a textured background enamel in grey-green and speckled shades, crossed by refined patterns in brown and iridescent tones. A textured vertical line ends in a brushstroke on the edge, crossing a horizontal structure that connects two geometric shapes with softened angles. * Origin: France – Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec * Period: Mid-20th century (circa 1950) * Style: Modern, abstract and geometric design * Dimensions: 26 cm square * Signature: Engraved and signed on the back with the abbey's characteristic cross mark. * Condition: Very good original general condition.
