This stoneware planter captivates with the simplicity of its form and the depth of its glaze. The low, compact, almost spherical body is topped with an inward-curving rim featuring a well-defined interior ridge, which discreetly holds the inner pot while offering a meticulous finish. The grey-green celadon glaze, subtly speckled, plays across the entire surface with remarkable subtlety. It shifts to slate blue in shaded areas, lightening to pale celadon green on the neck and interior, revealing the richness of a masterfully controlled firing. The light gliding over this surface creates a silent, almost mineral presence. The unglazed base reveals the buff stoneware clay, with concentric turning marks still visible. This detail betrays the potter's hand, the precise gesture that gave birth to this refined, Asian-inspired form.
