Giò Ponti probably needs no introduction, he has been arguably the most influential personality in Italian design and architecture for nearly three decades, from the 1950s to the 1970s. In his long career he has been able to leave an unforgettable mark on furniture, crockery, architecture and interior decoration. One of his most famous works is the 699 chair designed for Cassina, and aptly named "Superleggera", Italian for Ultralight, given its feather-like weight of just 1700 grams per chair. Still produced and sought after today, the Superleggera is one of the most loved chairs ever. We are pleased to offer these two original chairs, produced and originally delivered in the 1970s and now reupholstered in smooth black velvet to complement the black lacquered wooden frame.
