The Cassina Maralunga 3-seater sofa was designed by Vico Magistretti. According to tradition, Magistretti got the idea for this sofa one day when he was playing with a cigarette packet. The constant opening and closing of the pack inspired him to an innovative concept: an adjustable backrest. Like the cigarette pack, each backrest could be folded individually to a 90-degree angle. This unique design became a huge success and the sofa is still considered one of the most iconic Italian designer sofas.
Cassina's design perfectly combines quality, design and comfort. The company has patented the innovative mechanism for the backrests.
