The 637 Utrecht purple is an iconic Armchair from the Italian brand Cassina. The Armchair was originally designed in 1935 by Gerrit T. Rietveld. It was designed for the Metz&Co department store in Amsterdam, with the idea of creating a piece of furniture that was more market-oriented than ever before. The result is an Armchair with a unique design and an original design language, complemented by futuristic elements. The straight armrests, in contrast to the otherwise soft forms of the Armchair, are characteristic and have contributed to the status of this piece as a true classic.
