A complete Brutalist Dining set, crafted from solid oak. The set is characterized by its robust construction and striking, hand-carved monk figures and a nun figure, which lend a unique and historical character to the ensemble. This extensive set consists of a large four-door sideboard with shelves and two internal drawers, a smaller two-door cabinet with shelves and two drawers, a spacious dining table with a sturdy base, and six matching chairs with woven seats. The furniture is finished in a rustic oak color and adorned with decorative brass fittings. The geometric patterns carved into the wood are a hallmark of the Brutalist style, emphasizing craftsmanship and the pure expression of the material. The overall condition of the set is very good, retaining its original finish and structure. The solid oak has developed a subtle and warm patina over the years, contributing to its authentic appearance. The construction of each piece of furniture is solid and testifies to durable quality. This Dining set forms an impressive centerpiece in a spacious dining room or kitchen-diner. The set fits perfectly within an interior with rustic, classic, or eclectic elements, where it makes a statement of timeless design and artisanal craftsmanship. This set was purchased in 1960 by the first (and only) owner in Mechelen (Belgium) and was already very luxurious and particularly expensive at the time.
