“Angler” by Carlo Lorenzetti is a contemporary collectible lamp that merges symbolism and sculpture. The design references both the anglerfish, an ambush predator that uses light to lure prey, and the mythological Ouroboros, a symbol of cyclical unity and renewal. Its form evokes an infinite loop, reflecting ideas of self-containment and transformation. The lamp’s switch is cleverly hidden within the glowing cavity, inviting tactile discovery. Created during a yearlong residency at Beeldenstorm Foundry in Eindhoven - an experimental workshop renowned for supporting artists and designers working with bronze and other metals - the piece was realized through a close co-creation process using the lost-wax casting technique. Lorenzetti’s minimalist, biomorphic approach nods to the legacy of Constantin Brancusiwhile asserting a distinctly modern sensibility. The artist references Brancusi’s timeless exploration of pure form in this work.
