Item description:
“In 1922, Le Corbusier began working in his new studio in Rue de Sèvres
with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, with whom he shared research projects
and design criteria in a deep and lifelong professional partnership.
In October 1927, the two decided to bring on board a young architect who had already
made a name for herself in the architectural scene at the time: Charlotte Perriand.
Their collaboration lasted until 1937 and was - especially in the field of furniture design -
extremely fruitful. The partnership was highly significant both in terms of
the cultural weight of their achievements and in terms of their professional successes.
Together with Charlotte Perriand, the two embarked on the innovative project for
“L’équipement de l’habitation”. The resulting designs had high intellectual
value and achieved considerable commercial success. Thanks to
Cassina's ongoing production, there was continuous interest in the
conceptual content of the work and its quality level. Thanks to these
characteristics, every piece in the collection is eagerly awaited.”
