Beautifully styled Art Deco sculpture of a pensive woman.
This object is a beautiful example of modernist Cubism from the 1920s and 1930s. The sculpture stands out due to the alternation between soft curves and sleek, angular details at the shoulders, hips, and face.
The arms flow elegantly below the knees into a single closed form.
Material: High-quality cast alabaster (alabasterine).
Details: Features deliberate patinated shadows that accentuate the muscle structure.
Translucent in bright light.
Condition: In very good vintage condition with only one tiny chip on the edge of the base (hardly visible); see last photo.
Shows some 'age spots'.
