A Welsh antique high back chair known as a lambing chair. It was made around 1820 and historically these chairs were used by shepherds during lambing season to rest by the fire side. The design of the lambing chair with the winged back protected the shepherds from draughts during what the cold spring months.
Today this charming chair with its attractive warm patina would make a perfect fireside chair and a nice addition to any interior. Importantly, it is also a very comfortable chair.
It has many repairs and signs of age and use as would be expected; splits and a few extra screws here and there. The back rest has a small metal plate added to stabilise an old split. The back leg is loose but when in position is completely stable.
