Product description
This antique sugi wood writing desk is a writing table with drawers. It originates from Japan, from the early 20th century, within utilitarian japanese cedar or sugi wood furniture.
These working desks filled offices, studies and workrooms. Their simple, solid construction prioritises function over ornament.
The body is of sugi wood also called japanese cedar, with a central drawer and a side column of drawers. The legs are of square section and the sides carry vertical uprights.
The sugi wood keeps a warm patina and the marks of use; one of the pulls is not original. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it.
Today it serves as a desk, console or work table. It fits rustic, industrial and eclectic interiors, where it brings warmth and material presence.
