Antique Digoin Sarreguemines faience vegetable tureen, Bagatelle model, bearing the manufacturer's stamp on the base. This beautiful piece of French tableware features a round and deep shape, flanked by two side handles. The Bagatelle decoration consists of a frieze of stylized roses in wine-red tones, accompanied by deep blue and green foliage on an ivory background. Fine blue ornaments punctuate the frieze and extend onto the handles, while a double blue trim outlines the rim. Originally intended for serving vegetables and side dishes at the table, this type of vegetable tureen was among the specialty serving pieces that completed dinner services in French homes during the first half of the 20th century. Its generous capacity today allows it to retain its use at the table or to be repurposed as a display bowl. The faience shows old crazing of the glaze, as well as some traces and marks of use consistent with its age, visible in the photographs. The decoration remains well-preserved and retains beautiful colors. Diameter approximately 24 cm excluding handles. Height approximately 11 cm.
