Product description
Original height-adjustable swivel office chair designed by André Cordemeyer for Gispen in the Netherlands during the 1960s. A distinctive example of postwar Dutch modernist office furniture, the chair combines a functional industrial construction with carefully considered ergonomic proportions. The upholstered seat and backrest are supported by an exposed metal structure, while padded black armrests emphasize the chair’s graphic, architectural silhouette. The five-star base is fitted with casters for mobility, while the central mechanism provides both swivel functionality and adjustable seat height. Exposed structural components beneath the seat highlight the technically driven character of the design. The chair has been carefully refurbished and newly upholstered in a textured fabric selected to complement the black and metallic elements of the original structure. Minor signs of use and age remain on the vintage components and are consistent with the chair’s period. A collectible piece of Dutch Mid-Century Modern design, suitable as an executive desk chair, studio chair or sculptural accent in a contemporary interior.
