This captivating screenprint by Alex Foxton is part of a 2001 series entitled "Frankenstein." Alex Foxton's work has been exhibited in galleries such as Perrotin, Derouillon, Sprüth Magers, and Kapp Kapp, as well as at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, Air Project Art Gallery, and Art Brussels.
His painting reinterprets traditional images of masculinity, deconstructs their archetypes, and reveals their complexity and ambiguity. Alex Foxton explores the personal histories and humanity of the heroes and mythical figures who populate our Western culture, painting a new narrative within the familiar fabric of history. The figures he depicts are elongated, torn between a serene face and an expressive, contorted, or ecstatic body, highlighting the tension within each character. Alex attempts to shed the objective, dominant gaze that shapes these virile male figures in order to reveal an embodied vision and awaken a desire for these bodies. His world is akin to that of Jean Cocteau, David Hockney, and Luke Edward Hall. He is also a designer at Christian Dior.
