The Cassina cab chair is a 1977 design by Mario Bellini. Designed as an answer to the precise nature of furniture, the chair is an extension of the body and has a look that blends beautifully into the room without being inconspicuous. The design features an enameled steel frame with a seat and back covered in soft polyurethane foam. The entire design, including the legs, is upholstered in luxurious, coarsely stitched saddle leather. This leather is connected to the design by four deliberately visible zippers. It's no easy task; the taut leather is pulled taut with pliers until it can be completely closed. For that time, it was quite unique to also provide the legs with padding. He immediately transformed the chair into a beautiful and innovative design. It's no coincidence that the Cab chair remains one of Cassina's bestsellers.
The chair has a height of 82 centimeters, a width of 52 centimeters, and a depth of 54 centimeters. The seat height is 45 centimeters.
The Cab chair is part of the Cassina collection. Cassina is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1927 by Umberto Cassina. The collection consists of many design classics and timeless pieces. It's impossible to imagine the world of design without Cassina's knowledge and experience of traditional craftsmanship. Furthermore, the label holds the rights to many major designers, including Gerrit Rietveld.
