The Cassina cab chair is a 1977 design by Mario Bellini. The chair was designed as an answer to what the exact nature of a piece of furniture should be. Consequently, the chair is an extension of the body and has an appearance that blends beautifully into the space, yet is not inconspicuous. The design features an enameled steel frame with a seat and backrest covered in soft polyurethane foam. The entire design, including the legs, is upholstered in luxurious, coarsely stitched harness leather. This leather is attached to the design by means of 4 deliberately visible zippers. It is not an easy task; the taut leather is pulled tight with pliers so that it can be completely closed. At the time, it was quite unique to also provide the legs with padding. He immediately transformed the chair into a beautiful and innovative design. It is no coincidence that the Cab chair is still one of Cassina's bestsellers.
The chair has a height of 82 centimeters, a width of 52 centimeters, and a depth of 54 centimeters. The seat height is 45 centimeters.
The Cab chair is part of the Cassina collection. Cassina is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1927 by Umberto Cassina. The collection consists of many design classics and timeless designs. It is impossible to imagine the world of design without Cassina's knowledge and experience of traditional craftsmanship. In addition, the label holds the rights to many great designers, including Gerrit Rietveld.
