6x Frans van Praet Vintage Chairs Belgo Chrom 2000s Minimalist Design.
Set of 6 rare chairs designed by Frans van Praet for Belgo Chrom / Belgochrom 2004, Belgium.
Oost-West Chairs also called Lommel Chair.
Produced in a small edition, initially for the interior of the town hall in Lommel in collaboration with architect Jo Crepain.
Nominated for the Henry van de Velde Award for Best Product.
Metal, grey metallic lacquered, design chairs. Folded in steel with a sober minimalist design.
For the town hall in Lommel, he developed a light stackable chair that can be used both indoors and outdoors. The 'Lommel Chair' has a split seat and backrest, with a system for water drainage. The construction appears stiff and rigid, but the 2-part backs do give way somewhat and are held together by a subtle metal detail with an Allen bolt.
The chairs are stackable.
However, we do not recommend this given the fragility of the metal parts. There were probably some kind of spacers or buffers on the underside, but these are unfortunately no longer present.
The lacquer on the backs and seats shows clear signs of wear, such as scratches, stains and smudges, etc. The protruding corners of the seats also have some paint damage and some seats have bubbling paintwork which is difficult to photograph, with some superficial rust formation on the underside, see photos, among others.
Designed by Frans van Praet (°1942), known for his industrial and artistic furniture pieces. Produced by Belgo Chrom, Belgium — producer of luxurious metal design from the 80s and 90s.
Known for the Belgian Pavilion at the 1992 World Exhibition in Seville - Sevilla Chairs for Belgo Chrom and crystal seats for Val St. Lambert.
