Fine English porcelain has that special gift of making roses appear truer than life. Its luminous whites, transparent glazes, and carefully transferred decorations built the reputation of Staffordshire manufacturers for over a century. These four mugs are a beautiful example of this. With a baluster shape on a pedestal base, each features a different rose decoration: blooming yellow roses, mauve buds, flowering branches. The hues are soft, the foliage a deep green, and each mug tells its own variation on the same floral theme. A gilded rim runs along the upper edge and base, bringing that touch of distinction characteristic of quality English tableware from the 1960s-1980s. Height approximately 10 cm.
