With its evocative name and generous large roses, the Cannes pattern is one of those Digoin Sarreguemines designs that immediately make a true statement on the table. This set comprises four French earthenware deep plates, adorned in the center with large roses rendered in deep burgundy and old rose tones. The blue foliage creates a particularly striking contrast, while a pale blue frieze, composed of arches and small geometric patterns, frames the basin like a delicate lace border. The stenciled decoration possesses that characteristic, slightly softened charm of productions from that era. The hues overlap, the outlines remain fluid, and the flowers almost take on the appearance of a painted design. Produced by Digoin Sarreguemines in the 1940s, they bear the manufacturer's mark on the reverse, as well as the name Cannes. With a diameter of approximately 22 cm, they are in very good overall condition, showing the discreet signs of age naturally associated with their history.
