Set of two vintage 1401 armchairs, designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen in 1954. The frame and backrest are made of lacquered steel, the armrests are made of Bakelite. A few years ago, the chairs were reupholstered in a beautiful 100% wool fabric from the Scottish brand Bute. The fabric has a special waffle structure and is in a warm dark pink color.
The 1401 armchair has recently been re-released by Dutch Originals with a starting price of € 1,295.00 each.Some scratches on the back, matching the vintage condition of the chair. One of the chairs is slightly discolored on top of the backrest.
