Pair of Mid-Century Modern Swing Arm Wall Lamps (Model 1706). Designed by George W. Hansen (New York) and manufactured in Spain by the lighting firm Metalarte during the 1960s/1970s. The original design was conceived by George W. Hansen in the 1940s and became the gold standard for swing-arm lamps due to its clean lines and functionality. This design was later licensed to international manufacturers including Metalarte in Spain and Baltensweiler in Switzerland during the mid-to-late 20th century. Specifications & Authenticity: Markings: Both lamps feature the embossed "HANSEN LAMPS NEW YORK" signature on the brass plates and back frames, alongside the "Metalarte - Made in Spain" labels on the sockets. Materials: Constructed from solid brass with a polished finish. Mechanism: The double-hinged swing arms rotate and extend to adjust the direction of the light. Shades: Equipped with their original jute fabric conical shades. Additional photos at the end of the gallery showcase the fixtures with alternative fabric shades to demonstrate how the brass structure pairs with different styles. Condition: Good vintage condition, articulation joints function perfectly, electrical wiring present for direct hardwiring connection into the wall. . Small scratches and surface marks on the brass specifically around the hinge area; however, these blend into the natural reflections of the polished finish and are virtually unnoticeable when the lamps are viewed as a whole. . Missing the brass cup-shaped spacer ring located between the base of the socket and the brass housing in one of the lamps; this leaves the socket slightly looser within the structure compared to the other lamp, but both fixtures remain fully functional.
