Product description
This is a Meropida coffee table, designed and produced by the Dutch manufacturer Leolux in the 1990s. The piece is a notable example of late 20th-century functional design, defined by its innovative two-part construction that allows for multiple configurations. The table features a clever swivel mechanism, allowing one section to pivot away from the other to expand the surface area. The construction combines materials for a distinct visual contrast: a bent plywood frame with a light wood veneer supports a black tabletop, while the lower nesting element features a black ribbed body and top. This lower section is fitted with casters, enhancing its mobility and ease of adjustment. Overall, the coffee table is in a very good state of preservation, consistent with its age and careful use. The original finishes are intact, and the piece maintains its structural integrity and smooth functionality. The combination of the natural wood grain and the matte black surfaces gives it a distinct character that has aged well. There are a couple of light signs of wear on the black part, as shown on the detail pictures.
