1971 | ARMCHAIR | GELDERLAND | JAN DES BOUVRIE | 601 MENEER OBERMAN
Original early version of the Gelderland 601 Meneer Oberman armchair, acquired around 1980. Upholstered in medium brown leather with generous, softly padded cushions, upholstered armrests, a metal tubular frame, and a supporting structure of dark brown saddle leather. A characterful vintage armchair in neat, well-preserved condition.
The 601 Meneer Oberman is a Dutch design classic from 1971, featuring a low, slightly springy base, a reclining back, and a relaxed seating position. The armchair owes its name to Koene Oberman, founder of Gelderland, who, according to tradition, took his daily nap in this model.
**JAN DES BOUVRIE** (1942–2020) was an influential Dutch furniture and interior designer, known for his clear design and emphasis on seating comfort.
**GELDERLAND**, founded in 1936, is a Dutch furniture manufacturer that has reissued the design. The current reissue differs in some respects from this early version.

**PLEASE NOTE**
The armchair is in neat vintage condition. The medium brown leather shows some signs of wear and natural creasing, consistent with its age. The cushions are equipped with zippers. The saddle leather support structure at the back is in good condition. The metal frame is also well preserved, with limited signs of wear.
This is an early version from approximately 1980, not the current reissue.
