1970s Astonishing handmade "Circa Victoria 1828" Model Ship. Made in England. Featuring a painted navy and white hull, intricate rigging, and aged canvas sails, this piece is a perfect focal point for a travertine coffee table or a brass console. The History of the "Circa 1828 Victoria." This ship paying tribute to the Queen Victoria, a 711-ton merchant sailing vessel. She was built and launched in 1828 in Bath, Maine (USA), a major shipbuilding hub of the era. The Queen Victoria was a typical early 19th-century cargo sailing ship heavily utilized for transatlantic routes. The vessel is famously remembered today because she was immortalized in an 1843 painting by marine artist Henry Smartly (1804–1849). The dramatic artwork, titled "Ship Queen Victoria - a Close Call Entering Le Havre," depicts the ship during a critical moment as she entered the French port, and it is now preserved in the collection of the Peabody Essex Museum. This 1970s English model captures the historical beauty of this transatlantic merchant ship, making it a wonderful conversation piece for any interior. It's in excellent condition.
